Takumi is the Japanese word for “artisan” and represents Clover’s pursuit of quality through natural materials and precision technology. The finest bamboo is carefully selected from forests in cold regions, harvested at 4–5 years for optimal strength. The shafts are uniformly machined for comfort, producing precision tips that allow stitches to glide smoothly.

Clover began when Toshio Okada, aged 14, worked for a needle wholesaler. Using a clover leaf as a bookmark inspired the name. In 1925 he opened his own needle shop, later expanding into manufacturing.

Today Clover, based in Osaka, Japan, produces knitting and crochet tools to exacting standards, guided by the philosophy: “Make people around the world happy through handmade.” Their factory, ISO 14001 certified for low environmental impact, upholds strict quality control, while the company also champions diversity and equality within its workforce.
