KnitPro Basix Beech Interchangeable Knitting Needle Tips

by
James McIntosh

Simple, Natural, Reliable

The KnitPro Basix Wood Interchangeable Needle Tips are, for me, a reminder of how good knitting can feel when you keep things simple.

Made from FSC™-certified beechwood, they have that warm, familiar feel that sits comfortably in the hands from the very first stitch. There’s nothing overly complicated about them — just a smooth, dependable needle that does exactly what you want it to do.

What I notice most when using Basix is the ease. The polished wood surface allows stitches to move cleanly along the needle, while still giving you just enough grip to keep everything under control. It’s particularly reassuring if you’re working on larger projects or yarns that can feel a little lively on metal needles.

They’re also lightweight, which makes a real difference over time. Whether you’re knitting a jumper, a blanket, or something in between, your hands don’t feel overworked — everything stays comfortable and steady.

The points are shaped for clean stitch pick-up, giving you good definition without feeling sharp or aggressive. It’s a very balanced knitting experience — calm, controlled, and consistent.

These interchangeable tips connect seamlessly with KnitPro cables (sold separately), allowing you to build exactly the needle you need for your project. They’re available in two lengths — 10cm and 13cm — so you can choose what feels right depending on your setup and knitting style.

Why I sell them at McIntosh

I stock Basix because they offer honest, reliable knitting.

They don’t try to be anything flashy — and that’s exactly their strength. They’re warm, comfortable, and easy to use, which makes them a lovely choice whether you’re just starting out or simply want a dependable set of needles you can return to again and again.

I’ve always found that good tools don’t need to shout. They just work — quietly, consistently — and let you enjoy the knitting.
