How to Open and Save Your LANGYARNS PDF Pattern

Your new pattern will arrive by email as a PDF attachment. This is a digital document included with the email, ready for you to open, save and print.

This guide takes you through each step. You only need to follow the instructions for the device you are using.

1. Find your pattern email

LANG will normally send your pattern email within a few seconds of your completed purchase. Please allow a few minutes for it to reach your inbox.

The email comes directly from LANGYARNS and is sent to the email address you used when ordering from McIntosh.

If you cannot see it:

• Refresh your inbox or check for new messages.

• Look in your Junk or Spam folder.

• If you use Gmail, check your Promotions tab.

• Search your email for LANG or LANGYARNS.

• Make sure you are checking the email account you used for your purchase.

If you find the email in Junk or Spam, mark it as Not junk or Not spam, then move it to your inbox.

Keep the original email as well as saving your pattern. This gives you another place to find the attachment later.

2. Find the attached PDF

Open the email from LANGYARNS and look for the attached file. You may need to scroll to the bottom of the message.

The attachment may appear as a small document, a box showing a filename, or beside a paperclip symbol. Its filename will usually end in .pdf.

Click or tap the attachment to open it. Depending on your email app, you may see a preview of the pattern or a button marked Download.

Opening the pattern does not always save a permanent copy. Follow the instructions below to save it somewhere you can find it again.

Do I need a PDF viewer?

A PDF viewer is an app or program that lets you read PDF documents. Your device may already have one, so try opening the attachment before installing anything.

Windows computers can read PDFs in Microsoft Edge, and Macs can use Preview. Many phones and tablets can also display PDFs.

If you need a separate viewer, Adobe Acrobat Reader provides free PDF viewing and printing. You do not need a paid subscription simply to read your pattern.

Saving your pattern on a desktop computer or laptop

These instructions apply to Windows computers and Apple Macs.

1. Open the LANGYARNS email on your computer.

2. Find the PDF attachment. Move your mouse over it if you cannot see any buttons.

3. Look for Download, Save attachment or a downward-pointing arrow. Click or Double Click it.

4. If the pattern opens in a preview instead, look for the download or save button within that preview.

5. If asked where to save the file, choose Desktop for easy access, or Documents if you keep your patterns there.

6. You can give it a recognisable name, such as Blue Cardigan Pattern.pdf. Keep the .pdf ending.

7. Click Save.

If it saves automatically without asking you to choose a location, check your Downloads folder. Open File Explorer on Windows or Finder on a Mac, then choose Downloads.

To read your pattern again: find the saved file and double-click it.

Saving your pattern on an iPad or iPhone

1. Open the LANGYARNS email.

2. Find the PDF attachment and tap it. If necessary, wait a moment while it downloads, then tap again to open it.

3. Tap the Share button—the square with an arrow pointing upwards. You may need to tap the screen once to show the buttons.

4. Scroll down the options and tap Save to Files.

5. Choose a folder under On My iPhone, On My iPad or iCloud Drive, depending on the locations available. A Downloads folder is a useful choice.

6. Note where you are saving the pattern, then tap Save.

To read your pattern again: open the Files app, which has a blue folder icon. Tap Browse, open the location you chose and tap your pattern.

Your PDF will be in Files, rather than in your Photos app.

Button positions can vary between email apps. If you cannot see the Share button, look for a three-dot menu or an option to open the attachment.

Saving your pattern on an Android phone or tablet

These instructions apply to many Android devices, including Samsung phones and tablets. The wording may vary slightly between email apps.

1. Open the LANGYARNS email.

2. Find the PDF attachment. You may need to scroll down.

3. Tap the Download button or the downward-pointing arrow beside the attachment.

4. Wait for the download to finish.

5. If the pattern opens in a preview instead, look for Download or Save within the preview or its three-dot menu.

6. If asked which app to use to read it, choose a PDF viewer.

To read your pattern again: open Files, My Files or Files by Google, then choose Downloads. Tap the pattern to open it.

Making your pattern easier to read

You can enlarge the pattern on your screen:

• On a computer: use the + or zoom control in your PDF viewer.

• On a phone or tablet: place two fingers on the page and gently spread them apart.

You can move around the enlarged page to read each section.

Printing a paper copy

If you prefer to work from paper, open your saved PDF and choose Print (you may want to select only the pages in the language you want to work from).

On a computer, this is usually under File or shown as a printer symbol. On a phone or tablet, look in the Share menu or the three-dot menu.

You will need access to a suitable printer. Check the print preview and choose the pages you need before printing.

Keep the PDF even after printing, so you can refer to it or print a replacement copy later.

Having trouble? Try these checks

I cannot find the attachment

Open the full email and scroll to the bottom. Look for a filename ending in .pdf, a document symbol or a paperclip. Some email apps place attachments near the top of the message instead.

I opened the pattern, but now I cannot find it

It may have opened as a preview without being saved. Check Downloads first. On an iPhone or iPad, also check the Files app.

If it is not there, return to the original email and follow the saving instructions for your device.

The attachment will not download or open

Check that you have an internet connection and allow the download to finish. Then try opening it again.

If your device asks which app to use, choose a PDF viewer. If an error message appears, make a note of its wording.

I want to use the pattern on another device

Open the original LANGYARNS email on that device and save the attachment there too. Saving a pattern on your phone does not necessarily make it appear on your computer automatically.

Can I read it without an internet connection?

Once the complete PDF is saved on your device, you can usually read it without being connected to the internet. If you saved it only to cloud storage, you may need to download a local copy first.

Do I need to buy the pattern again?

Please do not place another order simply because you cannot find your email or saved pattern. Check your Junk or Spam folder and your saved files first.
