Honeymoon Knitting, Day 4
Honeymoon Knitting, Day 4: From Altena to Leipzig (Casting On PROMISE)
Farewell Altena
After the magic of the Addi factory, it was time to wave goodbye to Altena. Suitcases were heavier (how do Olivewood Click sets multiply overnight?), and project bags were officially overflowing. But spirits were high: McIntosh #1 had been cast on, and nothing—except a German train delay—could stop progress now.
PROMISE on the Rails
As the train sped eastwards, James pulled out the PROMISE yarn by WOOLADDICTS from LANGYARNS. The fabric was already forming beautifully; each stitch felt like a small declaration of defiance against the dreaded Sweater Curse. Passengers stared. Dr Thomas translated: “It’s a honeymoon jumper. Very serious business.” ("Es ist ein Pullover für die Flitterwochen. Eine sehr ernste Angelegenheit.“)
PROMISE proved to be a perfect travel companion—soft, springy, and forgiving due to its chunky nature when a sudden jolt made James drop a stitch.
Schnitzel, Strudel & Stitches
Some couples take photos of cathedrals; James took photos of his knitting next to a schnitzel. A plate of strudel made an excellent backdrop for PROMISE yarn, although Dr Thomas drew the line at Schnapps when decreasing.
By the time the train rolled into Leipzig, James had logged hours of meditative travel knitting—proof that trains and wool are a perfect marriage of their own.
