        About Seeknit

Seeknit are a range of the finest Japanese ‘moso bamboo’ knitting needles and accessories made by Kinki Amibari based in Nara, Japan since 1916.

The philosophy of Seeknit is to contribute to the world's knitting culture while helping enrich people's minds.

        Why bamboo?

Bamboo is a strong, durable and renewable material that has been loved by knitters for centuries.

Depending upon where it is grown, bamboo is different in nature.

Seeknit use bamboo that is especially hard and resilient, reinforced by fibres called 'fibrovascular bundles' which gives it excellent lustre.

The shiny smooth surface - honed by skilled craftspeople - means Seeknit needles and hooks have a smooth surface, so stitches glide freely from one needle to the other without sticking or snagging.

        What is Koshitsu?

Koshitsu (pronounced ko-she-tsu) is a product unique to Seeknit and is characterised by a smooth surface and long lasting durability through special treatment using a high temperature, high pressure on the 'moso bamboo' with the addition of a natural plant wax - a process developed over 100 years ago by the company.

Koshitsu is the bamboo needle with a brown colour.
