This ingenious "Felting Paper" is a revolutionary soluble material from Schoppel, where roving yarn tops are needle felted directly into the paper before it magically dissolves away, leaving perfectly positioned felted designs.
Revolutionary Felting Features:
This exceptional soluble paper brilliantly transforms needle felting by providing temporary structure for precise fibre placement, then dissolving completely to reveal perfectly positioned felted designs. Perfect for intricate needle felting artwork, detailed felted embellishments, and innovative projects celebrating precision felting with revolutionary convenience.
Revolutionarily soluble. Precisely innovative. Ingeniously temporary.
What you'll need: Schoppel Soluble Felting paper, plastic sheet, felting needle, felting wool (Schoppel fibres or rovings), plus a few household items: polystyrene backing, spray bottle, liquid soap, rubber bands, bowl, tongs, and tumble dryer access.
Simple 5-step process:
1. Design & Fix - Arrange your wool fibres on the ArtFelt Paper and gently pierce with the felting needle to hold in place. Overlap fibres by 2cm with no gaps for lovely even fabric.
Safety tip: Keep felting needles upright - they're sharp and can snap if angled!
2. Soak & Roll - Spray thoroughly with soapy water, then roll in plastic like a sausage and secure the ends with elastic bands.
3. Tumble - Pop in the tumble dryer for 10-15 minutes. You'll see the paper wrinkle and fibres mesh together - aim for 20-30% shrinkage for wonderfully soft results! Check every 5-10 minutes, adding towels for small items or re-rolling large pieces for even felting.
No tumble dryer? A standard wash cycle works too!
4. Dissolve - Once felted, rinse in boiling water and gently agitate with tongs to remove all paper traces. Mind that strong colours don't sit too long in hot water.
5. Finish - Shape your felt as desired and leave to dry flat. Enjoy your gorgeous handmade creation!
