Honeymoon Knitting, Day 6
Honeymoon Knitting, Day 6: Karlsruhe to Ulm (Mindful Stitches on the Move)
Slowing the Pace
After the whirlwind of Brussels, Cologne, Wuppertal, Altena, Leipzig, and Frankfurt, Thursday finally brought a calmer day. The train to Ulm was shorter, the scenery greener, and the rhythm of travel perfectly matched the rhythm of knitting. Ulm Minster has the highest spire in the world.
James pulled out the McIntosh #1 jumper in PROMISE by WOOLADDICTS from LANGYARNS. The fabric was now substantial enough to rest in his lap, warm and reassuring—a physical record of six days of travel, laughter, schnitzel, and the occasional misplaced stitch marker.
Knititation® on the Rails
With fewer connections and no hectic factory tours, the day became an unexpected retreat. Each stitch was a breath, each row a pause. Knitting on the move had shifted from frantic progress into something slower, meditative—Knititation® in its purest form. It was novel.
Dr Thomas watched the countryside blur past the window. James watched the stitches stack neatly on the needles. Both agreed: this was honeymoon perfection in its own quiet way.
Ulm Awaits
By the time the train reached Ulm, James had added inches to the body of McIntosh #1, and perhaps just as importantly, a sense of calm to the journey. Tomorrow promised Augsburg and old friends. Today was about stillness, stitches, and PROMISE keeping its name.
