Scheepjes — inspiration in every ball of yarn
Some yarn companies make yarn.
Scheepjes seems to make ideas.
Colour that catches your eye across the room.
Shades that somehow should not work together…
but do.
A ball of yarn that quietly becomes a blanket, a shawl, a cardigan, a crochet project spread across the sofa while the kettle boils again.
Founded in the Netherlands in 1799, Scheepjes began in the wool town of Veenendaal and grew from small cottage spinning into one of Europe’s best-known yarn companies.
But despite all that history, there is still something wonderfully playful about it.
Scheepjes never feels overly serious.
It feels creative.
Open.
Welcoming.
The sort of yarn that invites you to try.
And perhaps that is why so many knitters and crocheters love it.
Because creativity is not always about perfection.
Sometimes it is simply about colour moving through your hands.
A rhythm of stitches.
A quiet evening.
The gentle comfort of making something.
At McIntosh, we are delighted to see Scheepjes finding homes with the McIntosh Clan.
Because sometimes inspiration arrives very quietly.
And sometimes…
it arrives in a ball of yarn.
