Honeymoon Knitting, Day 8: Oktoberfest in Munich (Lederhosen & Half a Jumper)

Lederhosen & Laughter

Saturday dawned in Munich with a mix of excitement and mild panic. Excitement: Oktoberfest. Panic: McIntosh #1 was only half finished. But no matter—lederhosen were packed, PROMISE yarn was in the project bag, and Dr Thomas had volunteered to model the unfinished masterpiece.

Beer Tents & Bavarian Chaos

Oktoberfest was everything promised: noisy, colourful, and overflowing with steins. The group (joined by Alan and Markus) clinked glasses, snapped a few obligatory photos, and marvelled at the organised chaos. James attempted to knit in the beer tent but wisely gave up after realising that beer froth and PROMISE yarn are not an ideal pairing.

Strudel Over Steins

After one beer too many and a crowd far too large, the group did the sensible thing: retreated for a long Bavarian lunch of schnitzel, strudel, and storytelling. Dr Thomas, undeterred, wore the half-knit McIntosh #1 proudly—yoke finished, body underway, sleeves merely a dream. He called it avant-garde Oktoberfest couture.

James called it “blocking in progress.”

Knitting Progress Report 🧶

  • Socks in LANGYARNS Footprints/SuperSoxx: Second pair nearly complete—travel triumph.

  • McIntosh #1 Jumper in PROMISE: Half finished, worn (sort of) at Oktoberfest, sleeves still pending.

  • Stitch Markers Lost Today: Two (possibly under a stein of beer).
